Country: Chad
Closing date: 17 Jun 2017
Background
The IRC began working in Chad in 2004 in response to the arrival of Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, providing health, nutrition, Environmental Health (EH), Gender Based Violence (GBV), and education services. Today, the IRC continues to provide these services to both local and refugee populations. Since 2010, the IRC has addressed the major drought and food insecurity crises in the Sahel by providing health, nutrition, and WASH services in the regions of Guera and Bahr El Gazal and has recently opened offices in the Lake region to respond to the refugees and IDPs forced from their homes by the on-going crisis in NE Nigeria and Boko Haram attacks.
The humanitarian situation in the Lake region of Chad has been deteriorating since the outbreak of violence in northern Nigeria in January 2015, which caused thousands of displaced people to seek refuge in the Lake region of Chad.
