About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Chad programme:

Following nearly 30 years of conflict, large areas of Chad remain affected by mines and the explosive remnants of war. MAG worked in Chad from 2006 to 2013, aiming to improve the living conditions of communities affected by these items, so they can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. We returned to Chad in late 2014 and re-opened our programme, working to improve the management of arms and ammunition alongside our Humanitarian Mine Action work.

About the role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Finance Manager will provide strategic and operational financial leadership to MAG in Chad, including control of expenditure, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting and identification of financial liabilities. As well as developing the financial strategy, they will also be responsible for day to day financial management in the programme, including managing cashbooks, payroll and statutory payments. An additional element of the role will be capacity building the national Finance Assistant. The role will be based in Ndjamena but will travel to other locations within the programme as required.

About you:

You will need to be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.), or qualified by experience in a similar role, preferably within an international context within the African continent. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to report in a timely and accurate manner, as well as the ability to work independently and build excellent working relationships with project stakeholders. You must have a fluent professional working knowledge of both French and English.
