How can you make a difference?

UNICEF will contract a consultant to produce a multimedia package (photos and videos), driven by compelling storytelling that will engage a social media audience and donors. The content should evoke empathy and understanding and prompt the viewer to share the pieces via social media and other channels. The digital content should embrace innovative storytelling and focus on characters that can embody the overall messages that each of the product tends to convey. Ultimately, the videos and photos should be empowering and emotionally impactful. The tone should be informative and emotional and focus on a child’s or lead character’s story illustrating challenging situations, coping strategies as well as UNICEF response and donors’ support. Any storytelling strategy can be considered, as long as the piece exemplifies an interesting story featuring the life of a child in a captivating way around an instance or event an audience will want to learn more about and support. Once finalized, the multimedia materials will live on the global UNICEF social media channels, web platforms and other relevant channels. The specific angles will be communicated to the agency upon selection after further consultations. Therefore, the agency will participate in telecom brainstorming/briefing sessions with UNICEF CO team to define in more detail the scope of work, stories angle and key messages of each product Methodology and Technical Approach The consultant should work closely with the relevant programme and communication teams within the Chad country office, in order to fully understand the specific issues that are affecting the country and integrate these elements in the storylines. The end products should resonate with both a global audience via social media but also with donors who understand the issue prevented as one of concern.Within the above context the consultant will be asked to produce a broad photography selection and five short videos featuring the following thematic areas:HEALTH1.Integrated community-based management of health (children illness, acute malnutrition, supply)2.Response to HIV & Aids (family testing, youth support groups, JRC)3.Community approach to behavior change (promotion of KFP)WASH1.Access to Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene promotion2.ODF villages through CLTS and role of women’s and youth groups EDUCATION1.Community approach to school management2.Promotion of education in communitiesThe thematic areas are based on UNICEF Strategic Plan 2018–2021, realizing the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged, more particularly “Every child survives and thrives” and “Every child lives in a safe and clean environment”

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Required•Demonstrated experience in developing videos and multimedia products that are shared globally through social media. •5 years of experience in directing videos, stories or commercials for top brands. •Experience developing original stories, short form video clips and/or documentary style videos. •Ability to deliver photographs and multimedia slideshows according to the specified quality and technical requirements•Experience with global campaigns targeting a social media demographic. •Experience with utilizing the latest technology cameras and visual equipment. Desirable•Familiarity with UNICEF policy and procedures for photographing and working with children and adolescents. •Experience, especially humanitarian, with international organizations, NGOs or non-profits.•Experience with projects featuring children.

    The budget will include all costs involved, except for ground transport in Chad, that will be provided by the UNICEF Country Office.
