UNICEF Cameroon Country Office intends to build a strong partnership for Child Rights with external audiences and partners. To pursue this intention, UNICEF publishes a wide range of materials(2017 diary, posters, roll-up, leaflets, greeting cards ). UNICEF Cameroon is planning to contract a Graphic Designer and editor to help the office meet its growing need for quality design services. The successful entity will provide technical support to the Communication section in designing UNICEF publications and contribute to the development and improvement of the design, branding and layout of materials. It will ensure that UNICEF the products are following UNICEF graphic guidelines, provide the best possible functionality and usability to UNICEF partners and contribute to the overall branding process.

The responsibility of this consultancy is to ensure the implementation and adherence to existing graphic guidelines; layout of publications; development of new graphic solutions and design of innovative products.

The consultant will work from distance in his/her country of residence liaising with the Partnership Advocacy and Communication (PAC) section, and if need be with the program sections via email and phone. The design will be largely based on the suggested design and content example created by PAC section. Additionally, reference images and texts will be consulted for the finalization.

Purpose of the Position

Design and edit UNICEF materials (2017 diary, posters, roll-up, leaflets, greeting cards)

Key Expected Results

  • Editing: Reviews of the samples design and improve the versions;
  • Editing: Collect additional information and details where needed + liaise with PAC section in case of questions and need of photos;
  • Improve and edit texts, art-work, photos, charts and other graphic elements;
  • Layout and design information and communication materials (diary, posters, roll-up, leaflets, greeting card);
  • Ensure that all materials are designed in line with UNICEF graphic guidelines;
  • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print and electronic presentations;
  • Deliver creative graphic and technical solutions for use of new media;
  • Submit the final drafts to the PAC section for approval. Revise the draft if needed as per inputs received from PAC section;
  • Producing an interactive PDF with hyperlinks and other interactive features;
  • Proof reading of final layouts.
  • Delivrables

    1. First drafts in soft copy:

  • Diary (200 pages);
  • 2 posters;
  • 2 roll-up;
  • 01 leaflets (4 pages);
  • 01 greeting card.
  • 2. Correction and validation by PAC section

    3. Final documents, in CDs/Pen drives along with the hardcopies in a format that the documents will then be printed and distributed through hardcopies documents and also utilized in its digitalized version.

    Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Professional editor and designer, experienced working with other international organizations or in an international context; Ability to deliver high quality documents according to the specified quality and technical requirements.

    A detail financial offer with itemized costs (fees, travel) should be submitted

    Conditions of work

    Detailed specifications for each material will be given to the designer.

  • Fee for services to be provided – based on the deliverables in the Terms of Reference
  • Wherever possible, indicate the itemized cost of the travel (air tickets etc) if an international consultation, and subsistence costs for your stay in the country.
